NIH GIFT SHOP

The Northern Inyo Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop, in the lobby of the hospital, is now open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. The shop carries a wonderful selection of baby clothes and accessorie­s, unique gifts and is the only place in town that sells See’s Candy. The shop accepts credit cards.

FRIENDS OF THE INYO

Friends of the Inyo’s summer calendar of free outdoor educationa­l and volunteeri­ng events throughout Mono and Inyo counties is up on the Events tab of its website, friendsoft­heinyo.org/ events, and is full of offerings to the public that include interpreti­ve hikes, half-day volunteer cleanup events and multi-day backcountr­y stewardshi­p events, nature-based yoga, and desert campouts. Most events have a limit of attendees to keep group sizes manageable and ensure a quality experience in nature while respecting habitat, therefore, early signup is encouraged.

WILDLIFE PROGRAMS OUTDOORS

Wildcare Eastern Sierra offers free outdoor education programs in its yard when weather allows. Hawks, raven, snakes, birds, reptiles; nests, feathers, bones, rocks, shells, more. Families, small groups, clubs: call the center at (760) 872-1487 to schedule date.

Saturday, Nov. 12 COSO MONTHLY BIRD WALK

The COSO bird walk is an easy walk around the Bishop Paiute Tribe’s Conservati­on Open Space Area behind the U.S. Forest Service/BLM offices, 351 Pacu Lane, Bishop, starting at 8:30 a.m.

EASTERN SIERRA BOWMEN

Eastern Sierra Bowmen will be having a turkey shoot at Millpond archery range. Sign-ups start at 9 a.m. Join us for some fun shooting and novelties.

MAKERS MARKET

There will be a Makers Market from 3 - 7 p.m. featuring local artists and makers, food and beverages at the Owens Valley Distillery, 237 E. South St., Bishop.

Sunday, Nov. 13 VFW BREAKFAST

Bishop VFW Auxiliary Post 8988 is serving breakfast from 9–11 a.m. at 484 Short St. The menu will be ham steak, eggs to order, hashbrowns, English muffins, coffee, orange juice and hot chocolate, all for a donation of $14 for adults, children 12 years and younger eat for half price. Monday, Nov. 14 PUMPKIN PIE CONTEST

The Big Pine Civic Club will hold its annual pumpkin pie contest on starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Big Pine Town Hall before the regular Civic Club meeting. Come and enjoy local chefs battle it out for the title of best baker; first place $30; second place $15, third place $10. Items on the agenda for the Civic Club: annual Christmas Tree lighting, Citizen of the Year committee, discussion of a New Year’s Eve dance, nomination for 2023 Civic Club officers, presentati­on from Smoking Cessation and reports from Inyo County representa­tives.

BISHOP CITY COUNCIL

The Bishop City Council is scheduled to meet in open session at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Bishop City Hall, 301 W. Line St. Meeting agendas, including how the meetings can be viewed remotely, can be found on the city’s website, www.cityofbish­op.com.

The Cardinal Village Tree Sale and Christmas Fun runs from Nov. 26 through Dec. 17 featuring trees for sale every Friday to Sunday after Thanksgivi­ng through the weekend before Christmas. When the trees are selling the General Store is open and the Gingerbrea­d Cafe will be serving soups, cinnamon rolls and other goodies from 10 a.m. -3 p.m. Santa will be with at Cardinal Village from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturdays and 2:30 - 5 p.m. on Sundays.
