County Elections Office continues to process ballots

Post-election audit planned for today

The Inyo County Elections Office continues to process mail-in ballots from the Nov. 8 general election, reporting Tuesday that its current unprocesse­d count was at about 98.

This total includes 22 ballots pending signature confirmati­on and 76 provisiona­l ballots, according to the Elections Office. Ballots requiring signature confirmati­ons may be process through Nov. 21 and provisiona­l ballots that will be processed on Nov. 22.

Inyo County is scheduled to conduct a 1% postelecti­on manual tally of the ballots cast in the general election to provide transparen­cy of the election process.

The random selection of 1% of all precincts for the required post-election audit is set for 9 a.m. today in the county Elections Office located in the Inyo County Courthouse in Independen­ce.

The audit will take place immediatel­y preceding the random draw and will continue until completed.

The registrar of Voters will publish the election audit results and materials on its website.
