A time of change

- By Vicar Tim Homan

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of saints and seek to show hospitality.” Romans 12:213

Blessings saints, I am Vicar Tim Homan, and I am the Vicar for Grace

Lutheran Church. Vicar means assistant pastor and I am scheduled to be ordained as Pastor in January of 2023. I am serving Mammoth Lakes Lutheran Church as well. I have been Vicar to Pastor Puls’ ministry the last two years. I have enjoyed living in the Eastern Sierra for most of the last 20 years. I am excited to share lessons with you about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I look forward to communicating with you weekly about God. I especially look forward to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ our risen Savior and the lessons we can learn from the 33 years he walked this earth sinless. The above quote from Romans is a great guide for everyday life. Paul’s letter to the Romans is Gods breathed word and wonderful direction for how to navigate challenges in our life. Rejoice daily with hope because God loves you. Hope for your future because heaven awaits. Certainty for your prayers being answered because God hears all prayers. Hope for this community because it is filled with Christians who love God. Be patient when trouble finds you or your family because the angels of God are not far away. Pray to God for hope to navigate your way through troubling times. Be constant in your prayers to God and realize that prayers always get answered, just not always with the answer we desire.

This scripture from Romans, written by Paul, also asks you to be mindful of the needs of your neighbors, i.e., saints and to show them hospitality and favor. Any time of year is an awesome time to show hospitality to our neighbors and share the great news of a risen Savior. The church is a wonderful place to experience hospitality and favor while hearing the word of God. A day in church is better that 1,000 days anywhere else. I encourage you to attend a Bible-based church, focused on the Law and Gospel of our Lord and Savior. The liturgy should be focused on the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. When you have challenges remember to pray and bring those challenges to the one who is listening, Jesus Christ. Rejoice and be happy when God has blessed you with easy days. Remember the saints around you and how being of service to them can bring you Joy.

Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior is here for you every day. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He died on the cross for your sins. Your sins are forgiven thanks to your advocate Jesus Christ. He rose from the dead and sits at the right hand of

God the Father. All those who are baptized and believe will also enjoy the splendor of Heaven one day. Have a blessed week saints!

Firmly in His Grip.
