Chamber promotes local shopping with holiday raffle

Businesses can still participat­e in program

The Bishop Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center is once again organizing a holiday raffle including more than a dozen local business.

Chamber Executive Tawni Thomson said the “Shop Local Raffle” started this Friday and several merchants already signed up to participat­e.

These businesses include:

• Dwayne’s Friendly Pharmacy

• Eastside Sports

• Elevated

• Great Basin Bakery

• Grocery Outlet

• High Country Lumber

• Laws Railroad Museum

• Magick Nature

• Mercado Mexico

• Reagan’s Sporting Goods

• Rusty’s Saloon

Sage to Summit

• Spellbinde­r

• Steve’s Auto & Truck Parts

• Tailwagger­s

• The Toggery

• Yuhubi Nobi Gas Station

Thomson stated that shoppers can enter once at each location through Dec. 19 and there is no fee to enter.

Winners will be chosen on Dec. 20.

Prizes will include gift certificat­es for each participat­ing merchant.

Grand prize is a $500 local shopping spree – winner to choose any chamber-member business or multiple businesses they want to spend the $500 with.

She said it’s not too late for businesses to sign up to participat­e. Those interested can call April at the chamber at (760) 8738405 or email April@bishopvisi­tor.com.

“The Shop Local Raffle is a fun way we can encourage people to visit our local businesses during this important holiday shopping season,” Thomson said. “The list of merchants is really diverse this year, there are new shops as well as long standing businesses – we’re sure people can find all the gifts they need to buy right here in Bishop.”

The chamber also is working on logistics for the Christmas parade planned for 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, and this year’s theme is “Christmas Movies.”

Just before the parade, Bishop Rotary Clubs will host the annual Santa Mile Fun Run and immediatel­y after the parade, there will be a tree lighting ceremony in front of the Bishop City Park.
