ESLT holiday mixer
BISHOP – Eastern Sierra Land Trust will be having its holiday mixer from 4 - 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at the ESLT office at 250 N. Fowler St. in Bishop. This will be a great opportunity to get together with community members and celebrate local conservation. The mixer will be mostly outside. There will be patio heaters, but make sure to bring a coat. Refreshments and snacks will be provided. RSVPs are appreciated at eslt.org/ events..

CANDY FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The Bishop Senior Center Recreation Committee will be selling See’s Candy and homemade peanut brittle beginning Monday, Nov. 2, until all sold. Come by the Bishop Senior Center, 682 Spruce Street, Monday through Friday, between 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. to shop for See’s assorted chocolates, dark chocolates, milk chocolates, and/or nuts and chews; and peanut brittle made at the Senior Center. Cash or checks accepted (sorry, no credit cards). All proceeds go towards program/activities at the Bishop Senior Center.

The Northern Inyo Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop, in the lobby of the hospital, is now open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. The shop carries a wonderful selection of baby clothes and accessories, unique gifts and is the only place in town that sells See’s Candy. The shop accepts credit cards.

Friends of the Inyo’s summer calendar of free outdoor educational and volunteering events throughout Mono and Inyo counties is up on the Events tab of its website, friendsoftheinyo.org/events, and is full of offerings to the public that include interpretive hikes, half-day volunteer cleanup events and multi-day backcountry stewardship events, naturebased yoga, and desert campouts. Most events have a limit of attendees to keep group sizes manageable and ensure a quality experience in nature while respecting habitat, therefore, early signup is encouraged.

The Bishop Twin Theatre will be hosting Who bilitation that will feature the movie “The Grinch,” which will start at 7 p.m.; $2 admission. There will be a costume raffle in which the winner will receive gift certificates to Amigos Restaurant, the Back Alley, the Bishop Twin Theatre and a board game with goodies. CHRISTMAS PARADE IN BISHOP
The Christmas parade in Bishop, which is organized by the Bishop Chamber of Commerce and Information Center, is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. and this year’s theme is “Christmas Movies.” Parade entry forms are now available and due by Nov. 23. BP CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING
The Big Pine Civic Club and Big Pine Volunteer Fire Department are teaming up once again this year to bring the Big Pine community Christmas tree lighting starting at 5 p.m. at the corner of highways 395 and 168 in the Big Pine Kiosk. Special guest appearance by Santa Claus and singing by the High Sierra Chorus. The Big Pine Fire Department will be helping Santa with the children’s stockings and the Civic Club will provide the refreshments.
