NIHD grateful for support during Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Northern Inyo Healthcare District would like to thank the following health care facilities, local businesses, and individuals for supporting our Breast Cancer Awareness efforts, including our annual Moonlight Mammogram program and Eastern Sierra Cancer Alliance’s Community Pink Day. This year, our Diagnostic imaging team and these contributions helped provide 56 busy women with after-hours mammograms. NIHD encourages all women and men to speak with their primary care physicians about annual cancer screenings and to remember that early detection helps save lives.
Many thanks to Anne-Marie’s Home Boutique; Bishop Lions Club; Bishop Police Chief Richard Standridge; BUHS alumni Charlotte Glasgow; BUHS student volunteers Landon Evangelist, Joe Almeida, and Maximo Elia; Carson Tahoe Cancer Center; City of Hope; Eastern Sierra Cancer Alliance; Inyo County ClerkRecorder Danielle Sexton, Lacie Ross, and Caroline Nott; InyoMono Association for the Handicapped STARS, Krista Svacina, Whitney De la Riva, and Cheryl Hanes; the Northern Inyo Healthcare District team and CEO Kelli Davis; NIHD Breast Surgeon Dr. Cheryl Olson; Sage to Summit and Bishop Mayor Karen Schwartz; Andrea Shallcross & Associates; Southern Inyo Healthcare District’s Dr. Peter Spiers, Samantha O’Hara, Loretta James, Daniel Smith, and Any Meas; Tahoe Carson Radiology; Tahoe Forest Cancer Center; Toiyabe Indian Health Project; and the Valley Health Team led by Ethan Aukee.
A special hats off to The Inyo Register; The Sheet; The Sierra Reader and El Sol de la Sierra; KIBS-FM/KBOV-AM; and Sierra Wave Media for always being there to help spread the word. Please support these media outlets, as they are invaluable to the fabric of our community.
Finally, our deepest appreciation to the Northern Inyo Hospital Foundation and Executive Director Greg Bissonette for graciously funding the pink ribbons along the U.S. 395 Main streets. Year after year, these ribbons are cited as the one visible reminder many women – and men – need to schedule these potentially lifesaving screenings.
Thank you all for helping our community stay healthy, Rosie Graves
