County Elections Office thanks community for successful election

-

The Inyo County Elections Department would like to thank the Inyo County community for another successful Election Day! The California State General Election was held Nov. 8, 2022, and Inyo County voter participation was over 70%, which was the fourth highest turnout in California.

We had over 80 volunteer poll workers that worked over a 12-hour day on Election Day at our five polling places throughout our county. Many community members, including our board of supervisors Matt Kingsley and Jennifer Roeser, performed additional elections services at the Independence Courthouse Elections Office to help transport ballots and work Election Night. Days before and weeks after the election we had over 30 volunteer election workers on site processing mailed ballots, scanning ballots, and performing our elections audit (Audit resulted in zero discrepancies!).

Between the five in-person polling locations we had over 900 Inyo County residents vote in person and over 1,000 residents drop off their mail in ballot at our polling locations on Election Day. Our Mailed Ballot Canvassing Board opened and processed over 6,600 mailed ballots!

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the volunteer poll workers, mail boards, audit boards and Election Night workers. Because of you Inyo County’s election went off smoothly and was held with efficiency and transparency. We cannot thank you enough!

We would also like to give a special thanks to Shea Schat’s Bakery for donating amazing bakery treats and other supplies for our poll workers at the Bishop fairgrounds polling place, Bishop Vons for their donation of a tray of sandwiches for our poll workers at the Big Pine Town Hall polling place and the Owens Valley Unified School District for the amazing artwork done by the students to line the halls of the Independence Courthouse on Election Night. Our community is amazing, we are so thankful for your generosity.
