Robert Lee Hunter, Sr., 79, of Big Pine, California died Thursday February 2nd at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bob is survived by his stepdaught­er Radonna Willis and her children, brother-in-law Richard Buchinger, brothers Rick (Alice), Mike (Julie), and Melissa Maddux, and John Maddux, sisters-in-law Eleanor, Mary, and Kelly Naylor, grandchild­ren Nora and Robert, and many nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert Morse and Mabel Hunter, sister Susie, brothers Roy, and Ed, wives Sue Ann and Barbara, his two sons Robert Lee Jr., and Ben Hank Hunter, and brother and sisters-in-law Bud, Reynalda, Nancy, Eloise, and Valerie Naylor. And also by Neddeen and Raymond Naylor.

Bob was born in Schurz, Nevada at Walker River Hospital and graduated from Big Pine High School. Bob went on to work for the Inyo County Road Department as a heavy equipment operator and then spending the majority of his career before formal retirement from the State of California as supervisor for the Ground, Maintenanc­e, and Transporta­tion Department at the College of the Siskiyous in Weed, California.

Bob was a member of the E Clampus Vitus, gave regularly to the Indian Schools in the southwest, and also to many charities. He loved to hunt, fish, cook outdoors and deep pit barbecue. He was an avid Rams and Dodgers fan and could be found keeping busy in his shop or working on his projects or spending time with friends and family. Bob was surely loved and will be sorely missed.

A cry dance will take place at his residence starting at sundown at 324 Richard St. on the Big Pine Indian Reservatio­n Saturday, February 25th.

A private internment for family is being planned around March 25th above Taboose Creek.
