Lyft Hits a Roadblock
Local regulators declared Lyft, a popular ridesharing service based in San Francisco, unauthorized in New York City just days before its launch in the Big Apple. The city's Taxi and Limousine Commission warned drivers and passengers that the Lyft service was illegal, and that participating drivers could face serious fines. However, Lyft remained undaunted, claiming that the licensing rules don't apply to its business model and that it is still moving forward with its expansion plans.
