While this helps you de­cide whether or not the mes­sage re­quires an im­me­di­ate re­sponse, an ob­vi­ous down­side to this fea­ture is that any­one can in­ad­ver­tently (or in­ten­tion­ally) read a mes­sage you might rather keep pri­vate. To keep your mes­sages out of the public eye, go to Set­tings > No­ti­fi­ca­tion Cen­ter > Mes­sages and turn off the Show Pre­view tog­gle.
