Taylor Swift Leaves Spotify
Taylor Swift, a known opponent of music-streaming services, pulled her music from Spotify after the release of her latest album, 1989. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek responded to Swift’s decision with a lengthy blog post, in which he insisted that Spotify helps artists rather than hinders them. “We started Spotify because we love music and piracy was killing it,” Ek remarked. He went on to say that Spotify had paid more than $2 billion to artists since the service launched in 2008.
