Welltory App
($12.99/month)
I am not one to spend a lot on an app, but Welltory Pro is the exception. It connects to your Health app and draws information from all your wearables, organizing it into data that you can apply to your daily life. My favorite feature of Welltory is the stress percentage or stress score that helps me determine if I should push myself to accomplish physical and emotional goals or take a break instead.
Muse S
($399.99)
While most wearables focus on tracking physical activities, the Muse S (Gen 2) focuses on the most critical organ in the human body: the brain. The Muse S uses electroencephalogram or EEG technology to respond to your mind, heart, and breath! It is a comfortable headband that literally senses your brain and can help you track and understand your focus, sleep, and charge. The Muse S's goal is to help you focus during the day and recover each night.
I initially had trouble getting my headband to work, but the Muse support team was incredibly responsive and helpful. Once you get the headband working the first time, it's easier and more intuitive the next time. As someone who struggles with mindfulness and incorporating meditation into my regular routine, I find the Muse S a valuable wearable.
Once you have it working, there are several ways to use it. The Muse app offers various experiences, including sleep soundscapes that help you fall asleep, nicknamed “Digital Sleeping Pills.” Not only can these sounds help you fall asleep, but the Muse S can sense if you're about to wake up and will start playing sounds that may help you stay asleep or fall back asleep if you've woken up.
I like the unique sleep tracking that the Muse S offers. Like other sleep trackers, it gives you deep sleep insights and offers a sleep score; however, it can also track your sleeping position and give you personalized tips based on how you sleep. I trust my Muse S a lot more than my Apple Watch or
CIRCUL ring when it comes to sleep insights because it gets the information directly from my brain and not just my wrist.
The Muse S isn't just a sleeping tool, and I use it most during the day. I tend to run on all cylinders, and even just getting the Muse out puts me in a calmer mind space. The guided meditation sessions help me relax and do more throughout the day.
Pros:
• Extensive sleep tracking
• Comfortable to wear for long periods of time
• Instant relaxation and calmness results
Cons:
• Can be tough to use the first time
• Only for home wear because it looks so unusual
• Doesn't track physical activities like other trackers; it only works for specific brain and sleep tracking Ѷ
