Self-care may seem like a simple enough thing topractice, but Demi Lovato knows first-hand that it’sa lot easier said than done. “We all have our gooddays and our bad days,” she admits. “It’s not always easyto put yourself first and to do what’s best for you evenwhen you know you should.” However, in the last year, thesinger says she decided to really focus on loving herselfand she noticed it made a huge impact in her life. “I realized that just doing little things for myself goes a longway,” she smiles. “At the end of the day, when you do little unimportant things for yourself, you’re showing yourselfthat you matter to you, which is why self-care is somethingeveryone should do.” Check out some of the ways Demisays she shows herself love and some ways you can, too

TAKE BATHS

Demi is a big fan of taking relaxing baths. “I love Epsom salt baths,” she spills. “Even doing something small like that for yourself is a form of self-care.”

EMBRACE YOUR EMOTIONS

When Demi is having a hard day, she isn’t afraid to cry about it — without judging herself. “It’s such a good way to get all your emotions out,” she explains.

ZEN OUT

Taking time to chill can make a big difference in how you feel. One of Demi’s favorite ways to relax is by meditating. “I meditate in the morning and take ten minutes out of my day to read inspirational quotes that I’ve come up with on my own,” she reveals.

PAMPER YOURSELF

Doing something special for yourself every so often, like going to the spa, can instantly make you feel good about yourself. “I try to get a facial once every three months from this place called Blue Medi Spa,” Demi reveals.

STAY WELL-RESTED

“Sleep is important,” Demi explains. “Taking care of myself by making sure I get enough sleep helps with my internal stress and helps me feel pumped.”

EXERCISE

You’ll be surprised by how much being active can impact your mood. “I find that it’s important for me to get some sort of physical exercise, even if it’s just walking for my mind,” she says.

BLOCK HATERS

We’re not saying you have to completely cut out social media, but being on 24/7 and reading negative comments can affect your mental health. That’s why Demi says she started blocking haters. Now, she doesn’t get impacted by bad vibes online. “I love blocking people,” she confesses. “It’s just

so great not having to deal with hate on my feed.”

GET A MANI

“Everyone has their thing, and, for me, it’s my nails,” she smiles. “It sounds silly, but if I go weeks without getting my nails done, I must find an hour to get a manicure. It just makes me feel better.”

DON’T OVERDO IT

Sometimes you might feel like you can’t say no, but Demi says you totally can. “Do what’s best for you,” she suggests. “I know I love myself the most when I’m taking care of myself.”

BE KIND TO YOURSELF

When it comes to self-care, how you treat yourself is crucial. “I feel like beauty comes from within, and exudes out, so the love that you have for yourself is important,” Demi opens up.
