KACI PLAYS A GEN Z SUPERHERO!

NAOMI, Kaci Walfall stars as the titular character — an average teen who just learned she has superpowers! Check out what Kaci spilled about the role.
J-14: Hi Kaci! Naomi is such a relatable character. How did you connect with her?
KACI WALFALL: From the moment I got the audition, I realized that Naomi and I are very similar. As teenagers, we are both dealing with similar teenage issues. Naomi wears what she wants to wear, and wears it confidently, and I would say the same for myself. She’s also the queen of questions and I’m extremely inquisitive, too.
J-14: Starring in a superhero series is no small feat, especially one lead by Ava DuVernay! What was it like when you found out you got the part?
KW: I was in my room in Brooklyn and my mom came in and handed me the phone saying, “Someone wants to talk to you.” I heard Ms. Ava’s voice. She said, “I’d like to welcome you to the family as Naomi.” I screamed and told her, “This is the best day of my life!”
J-14: Why do you think J-14 readers will love NAOMI?
KW: I think J-14 readers will love how relatable NAOMI is to them. They’ll also love the romance and relationships in the show — it’s a big part of the story and Naomi's ''normal'' life. And, of course. the mystery in the show of Naomi discovering her hidden destiny is so intriguing.
