1 Making jam

Taylor picked up this skill when she was growing up in Pennsylvania. ''When I was younger, we had a grape arbor, and my mom would go out and pick grapes and make grape jam in the sink — boil it, put it in jars and give it away as gifts,” she remembers. Tay’s following in her mom’s footsteps, though she’s made a slight change. “I started making raspberry jam,” she reveals. “I don't mean to brag, but it's so good, you could just eat it with a spoon.”

2 Doing the splits

This is one talent that did not come easy to Taylor! “I got it in my head that I couldn’t do a split, and I was really upset about it," she explains. "So, I stretched every single day for a year until I could do a split. Somehow, I feel better knowing that I can.”

3 Writing books

Did you know that Taylor wrote a novel when she was only 14 years old? A Girl Named Girl is a YA story about a girl whose mom really wanted a son but had a daughter instead. Sounds like a good read, right? Unfortunately, it hasn’t been published … yet!

The singer showed the world she could paint back in 2014 by posting portraits of watercolor flowers on her Instagram. “So far this week, all I want to do is paint and all I want to paint are watercolor flowers,” she captioned the photo. Years later, her paintings appeared in the Reputation magazine she created for fans.

5 Horseback riding

As a child, Tay's one hobby that rivaled singing was horseback riding. She did it mainly because her mom wanted her to. “My mom always wanted me to ride horses because that’s what she loved. But at some point, she realized I wasn’t as crazy about horses as I was about singing,” Taylor explains. Nevertheless, she was pretty talented. She even rode competitively!

6 Pest control

Okay, stay with us on this one. Swifties probably already know that Taylor grew up on a Christmas tree farm, but you may not know that her first job had her dealing with insects. “My job was picking the praying-mantis pods off of the trees so that the bugs wouldn’t hatch inside people’s houses,” she recalls.

7 Being double jointed

When Taylor was asked in an interview about having any hidden talents, she seemed a little stumped. (She didn’t want to brag, we’re sure!) “I'm well aware that this is not a talent, but this is like the only thing that I can do. I have double-jointed elbows,” Taylor says. LOL!

8 Antiquing

There’s nothing better than finding a hidden gem at an antique store. Taylor loves the feeling, so she visits them often. “And not just neat, organized antique stores,” she says. “I really like the ones where there's so much crap to dig through. You can find absolute treasures for nothing.” She’s covered her home in all her awesome finds!
