Vanessa Hudgens’ career almost took a way different path! Inspired by watching Kelly Clarkson win American Idol, Vanessa decided she would audition for the show to kickstart her own music career. Though she had a few small parts in movies and TV shows, she’d yet to have her big break. Seeing Kelly perform made her feel like she had to take her shot! “And I was like, that’s it, I’m going on American Idol,” she remembers. “Then, that next week, I got an audition for High School Musical and booked it. So then I was like, ‘Well, never mind.’” Safe to say everything worked out for the best in the end!
