HER GABRIELLA’S LIVING MUSICAL DREAMS!

13: The Musical is a bigscreen adaptation of a Broadway musical all about growing up. (Fun fact: Ariana Grande starred in the original Broadway cast!) We spoke with Gabriella Uhl to learn more about the movie, streaming on Netflix, August 12!

J-14: Hey Gabriella! We’re so excited to watch 13 — can you tell us about your character?

GABRIELLA UHL: I love Patrice. I think she’s a character lots of people will be able to relate to. She wants to be included and belong, but not if it costs her what matters to her and what she stands for.

J-14: What was your favorite number to perform?

GU: “What It Means to Be a Friend”. Both of Patrice’s songs are so iconic and every theater kid knows them. I grew up listening to Allie Trimm, the original Patrice, singing it and the whole time we were recording the music and filming the movie, I couldn’t believe I get to be the one to bring it to a whole new audience.

J-14: Since 13 is such an important part of her career, we have to ask, what’s your favorite Ariana Grande song?

GU: Don’t laugh, but my favorite is actually a duet with another 13 star from their Victorious days, Liz Gillies. It’s “Give It Up” and I’m obsessed with Ariana’s riffs.
