WAS EDDIE SUPPOSED TO BE A VILLAIN ON STRANGER THINGS?

Joseph Quinn’s character, Eddie Munson, is one of the most likable residents of Hawkins, but the Stranger Things character was originally written as more of a villain! “There was going to be more of a Steve-Eddie rivalry, and we just didn’t have time,” Matt Duffer, one of the creators of the show shares. Once they saw Joseph doing his thing as Eddie, they just couldn’t make him into the bad guy. “We’re just like, ‘He’s so charismatic that it’s like, ‘How can you not like Eddie?’” Matt continues. Joe Keery, who plays Steve was happy he didn’t have to play up a rivalry, too, because he loved Eddie! “[Eddie is] a character that I don’t think the show has seen,” Joe says. “So that was a real welcome change.”
