The holiday season means the return of Blue Santa to the Overland Trail Museum.

For the 13th annual Blue Santa event, the Sterling Police Department and Logan County Sheriff’s Office are partnering once again with the museum’s “A Child’s Christmas on the Prairie.” The combined event, which has happened since 2016, has proven to be a tremendous success and a great event for all, with hundreds of participants each year.

Each year, the SPD and LCSO join forces to make Blue Santa a food drive to help less fortunate families and children in the community. In lieu of admission, guests are asked to participate in the non-perishable food drive, with food items to be donated to the Cooperating Ministry of Logan County.

The event will include an opportunity to have your picture taken with Blue Santa while enjoying free goodies and cocoa. Members of the Sterling Police Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, and Sterling Police Department Explorers will also be present to provide Child ID Kits. The museum staff will offer other fun activities such as Christmas crafts and games, and guests can also experience the wintry and Christmas theme of the entire museum property.

Blue Santa and “A Child’s Christmas on the Prairie” is scheduled for noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Overland Trail Museum, 110 Overland Trail, Sterling. Enter through the museum’s main entrance.
