The Harmony Home

- By Logan County Chamber of Commerce

The Harmony Home assisted living opened its first location in October of 2017 in Sterling by owner and operators, Scott and Kendall Rubottom. The building at 703 Holly Drive was vacant for several years. Scott, who owns Sterling Handyman Construction, and Kendall, a registered nurse for 11 years, started work on a great idea. With their combination of skill, talent, and professional experience, they started brainstorming renovations for the building and making it a home for the elderly. After doing a lot of research, they saw assisted living as a huge need for the community in the years to come.

During the renovation process, the kitchen was completely remodeled, fresh paint and flooring everywhere, and showers were added to each room for resident privacy. Since The Harmony Home opened in October of 2017, they have steadily increased their resident numbers to full capacity.

In addition, on Feb.1, 2019, they acquired their second location in Yuma, Colo. The Harmony Home Yuma is a 25-bed assisted living facility. In April of 2021, during Covid, Scott and Kendall were approached again to expand their business by purchasing The Beehive Assisted Living in Sterling and Fort Morgan Colorado, giving Harmony Home a total of 78 beds over four locations.

The Harmony Home staff and owners pride themselves on personalized care in a home-like environment. They work closely with the family and physicians to be sure that they are fulfilling the residents’ needs. Some services The Harmony Home provides are: registered nurse consultant on staff, well-trained staff on duty 24 hours per day, three nutritious home-cooked meals per day plus any snacks desired, daily housekeeping services, personal laundry and linen services, private amenities in each room, showers according to care plan, daily hair and personal care, medication administration, transportation arrangements if needed, weekly linen changes (more often if needed), emergency call system provided and monitored, Dish Network TV, activities/exercise programs and home-like atmosphere.

Kendall works very closely with her staff to ensure that they are giving the best care possible to their residents. “We feel very blessed to have amazing people on our staff that love and care for our residents each day,” she said.
