SNOW FALLS ON CITY
Milder temperatures expected later this week
A winter storm brought a major change to the weather overnight Monday, blanketing Sterling with several inches of snow by Tuesday morning.
Monday’s high reached 57 degrees, according to National Weather Service data. After temperatures dipped into the single digits overnight, the mercury peaked at around 25 degrees Tuesday afternoon.
NWS snowfall reports Tuesday afternoon showed 4.7 inches in Sterling, with other reports in Logan County ranging from 4.5 to 5 inches.
The forecast calls for a return to more mild conditions by the end of the week. Wednesday’s forecast shows the temperature will climb from an overnight wind chill of below 0 to a high of about 38 degrees under sunny skies, while Thursday’s high is expected to be around 50.
For Friday, the NWS is predicting a high of 55, with sunny and windy conditions.
Precipitation could return to the area by Monday.
