WASHINGTON - Connie Brown passed away peacefully at her Fort Myers, FL, home on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024.

Born to Ann (Neal) Pollock and Arthur Neal on May 18, 1960, she was raised by Ann and stepfather, Harvey Pollock, in Illinois. She attended Washington High School in Washington, Illinois, and further pursued her passion for nursing, graduating in 1994 as a registered nurse from Illinois Central College.

Connie had an extensive career in nursing and was a devoted steward to the infirm, tending to patients in various nursing homes and hospitals throughout central Illinois. She finished her career at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, as a dedicated caregiver to cardiac patients.

On May 2, 1985, Connie married Laurence Brown, with whom she spent nearly 40 years together raising a family. An avid traveler, Connie spent her days on this world as an intrepid explorer of it, visiting over a dozen countries, including Scotland, England, Italy, Austria, Greece, France, Switzerlan­d, Germany, Spain, Venezuela and Turkey, creating cherished memories with her friends and family along the way.

Connie is survived by her mother, Ann Pollock; stepfather, Harvey Pollock; brother, Roger Pollock; aunt, Dianna Dixon; husband, Laurence Brown; son, Christophe­r Neal; stepsons, Jason Brown and Jeremy Brown; five grandchild­ren, Brandon Neal, Brendon Brown, Breanna Brown, Hayden Brown and Arya Brown; and two great-grandchild­ren, Gwendolynn Brown and Jace Brown. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her spirit of adventure and caring nature will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to share in her journey.
