Classic rock, comedy and more: 12 events around Peoria in April

As the weather starts to warm up, big concerts, comedy shows and other events will be happening in Peoria.

Here are 12 things to do in the Peoria area during April.

Peoria Historical Society will host its 6th annual Trivia Night on Thursday, April 25, at the WTVP TV studio, 101 State St. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with trivia beginning at 7 p.m. Questions will explore a mixture of local current events and local history. Light snacks will be provided, but participan­ts are welcome to bring their own as well. Soft drinks, beer and wine will be available for purchase. The Peoria Symphony Orchestra will present “Voyage” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Peoria Civic Center Theater. The concert will pieces by Wolfgang Mozart, Richard Strauss and Pyotr Tchaikovsk­y, and will feature guest conductor and pianist, Louis Lohraseb, and vocalist, Erica Petrocelli. All Elite Wrestling will bring its unique brand of profession­al wrestling action to the Peoria Civic Center at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20. AEW will be broadcasti­ng live from Peoria for its “Collision” show and will be taping matches for its “Rampage” show. Tickets start at $24 and can be purchased at www.peoriacivi­ccenter.com.

The 2nd Annual ArtHAUS Home/ Studio Tour will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 20, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 21. Visitors can walk along the historic tree-lined street of Moss Avenue and journey inside five beautiful houses and meet seven world-renowned artists from Peoria and beyond. The Peoria Humane Society will host its 10th annual Wine & Whiskers fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 19, at the Trailside Event Center, 4416 N. Prospect Road, Peoria Heights. Admission is $50 per person and includes wine tastings from local businesses, hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, wine pull, live music and a visit from adoptable feline friends. To celebrate its 50th anniversar­y, a new mesmerizin­g production of the iconic musical “Jesus Christ Superstar” will take the stage at the Peoria Civic Center Theater at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, and Wednesday, April 17. Tickets start at $44 and can be purchased at www.peoriacivi­ccenter.com.

The Peoria German American Society will host a German Springfest (Frühlingfe­st) from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at the Avanti’s Event Center, 3401 Griffin Drive, Pekin. Stand-up comedian Rocky LaPorte will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, at The Waterhouse, 316 SW Washington St. Rocky has been featured in how own specials on Showtime and Comedy Central and appeared in several movies and sitcoms.
