YATES CITY - Donna Charlene Wolschlag, 88, of Sun City, AZ, passed away at 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Arizona. She was born October 17, 1935, in Bernadotte, IL, to Donald and Sarah (Marshall) Atwater. Charlene grew up in Knox County and graduated from Yates City High School. Charlene Atwater married Robert “Bob” Wolschlag on June 22, 1957, in Yates City, IL. They were married for 63 years.

Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sisters, Phyllis Atwater and Barbara (Atwater) Brunner. She is survived by two children, Donald (Gayle) Wolschlag of Sun City West, AZ, and Ronald (Jane) Wolschlag of Sun City West, AZ; six grandchild­ren, Denise (Louis) Danso of Normal, IL, Kimberly (Matthew) Simonsen of Surprise, AZ, Scott Wolschlag and Brett Wolschlag of Phoenix, AZ, Mark Wolschlag of Avondale, AZ, and Stephen (Yasari) Wolschlag of Wauwatosa, WI; one great-grandchild, Alexander Danso of Normal, IL; one sister, Patricia (Atwater) Johnson of Knoxville, IL; two sisters-in-law, Betty (Burgess) Wolschlag of Bartonvill­e, IL, and Florence (Wolschlag) McAlister of Elmwood, IL; one brother-in-law, Harry Brunner of Peoria, IL; and several nephews and nieces.

Charlene was a member of the Elmwood Presbyteri­an Church, Elmwood Community Choir, Elmwood Business Women’s Club, and sang with the Sweet Adelines along with her sister Patricia. She was also a member of the Peoria (IL) Color Camera Club and Sun City Camera Club. Charlene also enjoyed traveling. Charlene worked for Whitney and Potts Ltd. in Elmwood, IL, and retired from there after 37 years. She was an avid baseball fan and loved cheering for the Chicago Cubs. Also, she was very proud of her children and grandchild­ren and enjoyed their activities.

A visitation/celebratio­n of life will be held for Charlene and Bob at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, at the First Presbyteri­an Church, 201 W. Evergreen St. in Elmwood, IL. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will immediatel­y take place after the funeral service at the Elmwood Township Cemetery. Food and fellowship will then follow at the First Presbyteri­an Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elmwood Presbyteri­an Church or a memorial of your choice.
