strand embroidery floss* • Size 26 tapestry needle *See Where to Find It on page 65.

Stitch Count: 194H x 90W Design Size: 137/ 8" x 61/2"

Instructio­ns: Cross stitch over two threads using two strands of floss. Work 1/4 cross stitch where small symbols appear using two strands of floss. Work 1/2 cross stitch over two threads using two strands of floss.

Backstitch over two threads using two strands of floss.

Work French knot using one strand of floss and wrapping floss around needle twice.

Finishing Materials & Instructio­ns

• Two 16" x 9" pieces lightweigh­t fusible

interfacin­g • 16" x 9" piece coordinati­ng cotton

fabric • Decorative bellpull hanger

Press stitched piece from reverse side, straighten­ing as much as possible. Trim stitched piece to 16" x 9". Following manufactur­er’s instructio­ns fuse one piece of interfacin­g to back of stitched piece. Repeat on coordinati­ng cotton piece with remaining piece of interfacin­g.

Pin stitched piece and coordinati­ng cotton fabric piece right sides together. Sew together using 1/4" seam allowance, leaving small opening on bottom for turning. Turn right side out and press seams. Using a hand-sewing needle and coordinati­ng thread, blind-stitch opening closed.

Fold top of assembled piece over hanger toward back. Whipstitch top edge of assembled piece to back side.
