Alison Bathgate Watson 1856 Sampler
Born in 1837 in Selkirkshire in southern Scotland, sampler maker Alison Bathgate Watson stitched her sampler at the age of 19. Her sampler features four alphabets, varying borders, a selection of crowns, and a scene at the bottom with trees, rabbits and dogs. All are stitched in a rich, vibrant color palette.
