Finishing Materials & Instructions

• 16" x 8" piece coordinating Dupioni

silk for lining • 16" x 8" piece fusible interfacing • 16" x 8" piece white cotton fabric • Clear nylon sew- on snap • Coordinating sewing thread

Press stitched piece from reverse side, straightening as much as possible. Trim stitched piece to 20 threads from rose garland on both long sides and on short side below garland. Trim stitched piece to 33/4" on short side above crossstitch initials.

Cut silk lining, interfacing and white fabric to same size as trimmed linen. Following manufacturer’s directions, fuse interfacing to wrong side of stitched piece. Place white cotton fabric on wrong side of linen and sew together around all sides using 1/4" seam allowance.

Pin silk lining and assembled stitched piece right sides together. Sew together using 1/4" seam allowance, leaving a 3" opening for turning. Turn right side out, blind-stitch opening closed and press seams.

Fold up initials end of assembled piece approximately 5" to form pocket; press folded edge. Using ladder stitch, sew sides of pocket together, leaving top open. Fold garland end down over pocket to create flap; flap should not cover initials, but should overlap top of pocket. Press folded edge. Center one half of nylon snap on linen above initials and sew in place. Center other half of snap on silk-lining side of flap, making sure snaps align, and sew in place.
