One Stitch Ahead

Happy new year, stitching friends! We’ve made it through the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and can finally take a breath and contemplate what awaits us in the year ahead. 2023 is an exciting time for Just CrossStitch as we are celebrating our 40th anniversary.

Our team has enjoyed looking back through years of amazing designs, features, articles and photographs from past publications. We appreciate the dedicated and creative minds that have come before us, and we will strive to build upon their vision. On that note, we’ve added a few little details to the pages of the magazine that we hope you will enjoy.

Watch for fun design twists, like Elizabeth Spurlock’s Hearts & Flowers design. See how different a single pattern can look with just a switch in fabric and floss colors. Check out the first-time contributors to Just CrossStitch and learn a little bit about these designers through the “introduction” bio offered on their project pages. And in a nod to celebrating the joy of needlework, look for bits of interesting content that highlight what we love about the art and the amazing people that stitch.

Of course, 2023 will bring new opportunities for us to stitch together! Designer Perry A. Hadi has outdone herself with a simply gorgeous Mother Nature series showcasing seasonal motifs and colors. For those of you who love to work holiday projects year-round, get ready for a journey to the North Pole with our Christmas Wonder stitchalong. Jenny Barton lovingly designed each scene, sharing her vision of what the most wonderful time of the year might look like for Santa and the gang.

So, buckle up and enjoy the ride into 2023. Join us as we reminisce about the past 40 years of Just CrossStitch magazine as well as accelerate into a spectacular new year of stitching projects!
