Just Cross Stitch

One Stitch Ahead

-

Happy spring, stitching friends! The first signs of springtime are beginning to emerge. The crocus, daffodils and tulips are parading their showy blooms, while the warmth of the sunshine and freshness in the air expand with each new day. To bring this beautiful season of renewal to your needle and thread, our designers have outdone themselves in packing three delightful chapters full of designs created especially for you!

The Spring Blooms chapter offers patterns utilizing a rainbow of floss colors, which are abundantly displayed in Sea of Tulips by Lee Fisher found on page 21. Early Birds presents patterns featuring another eagerly anticipated sign of spring, our feathered friends. Easter Blessings showcases projects to help you celebrate the holiday. We’ve also tucked in some fresh ideas for finishing. One of my favorites can be found on page 16 with Tracy Richards’ adorable First Flowers zippered bag.

Our year-long stitchalong, Christmas Wonder, continues in this issue with part 2, featuring a snow day with Santa’s reindeer. It’s never too late to join the fun and materials kits are still available. This project is a storytelling work of art, and we’ve planned it perfectly! The final section will be wrapping up in the December 2023 issue, just in time to complete for Christmas.

Finally, you won’t want to miss our Celebrating Needlework feature on page 40. Designer Elisabeth Jenkins Baty breaks down the facts on fabric. Whether you are new to cross stitch or are an experienced veteran, Elisabeth offers information to help make your stitching fabulous with the right fabric!
