fabric wrong side down on tacky side of matboard, leaving 2" of fabric protruding at top edge. This will serve as hinge flap. Use liquid tacky glue to secure edges of fabric on remaining three sides to back of matboard, leaving hinge unglued. Mark bottom center of back opposite to hinge. Use liquid tacky glue to secure 1" of ribbon onto center mark, leaving remaining ribbon trailing off Unit C.

Unit D (backing of back flap):

Spray remaining piece of matboard with tacky glue. Center and place remaining shorter piece of cotton fabric wrong side down onto tacky (Continued from page 78)

side of matboard. Fold extra fabric to back and glue in place with liquid tacky glue.

Cover back of Unit C, including secured ribbon end, with liquid tacky glue. Place Unit D onto Unit C, wrong sides together, with hinge and ribbon exiting opposite ends. Press together, aligning edges, and allow to dry.

Final assembly: Place Unit C/ D flat on work surface with D side faceup. Place Unit B right side down on top of Unit C/ D, aligning edges. Wrap hinge fabric from Unit C around to wrong side of Unit B until snug but

still allowing unit to lie flat; secure in place with liquid tacky glue.

Glue 1" of ribbon to opposite end of Unit B at center mark, leaving 2" of ribbon between flaps to act as a stop. Note: Make sure ribbon will lie flat (not twisted) when unit is opened to stand upright.

Spray wrong side of Unit B with tacky glue, covering hinge and ribbon end. Place Unit A on top of Unit B wrong sides together. Press together, aligning edges. Place heavy book on assembled item and allow to dry.

Add decorative trim to Unit A/ B for embellishm­ent, as desired.
