Wesley Preschool leprechaun hunt

- By Theresa Auriemmo Special to the Republican

Wednesday. Wesley Preschool students and staff celebrated St. Patrick's Day.

The celebration of St. Patrick's Day began with the students dressed in green and donning little green hats. Laura Zampogna-Stahli put small footprints and coins on the floor which led to where she hid a leprechaun. Laura had told the children, Natalie, Harvey, Ellie, Briella, Liam, and Jaxson, that someone had spent the night. She said that this someone was sleeping and hiding and they needed to find this "special someone". The children excitedly followed the footprints while picking up the coins. The footprints led to a chest on a shelf and Harvey opened the chest to find St. Patrick (leprechaun). The children cheered with joy and jumped up and down. They continued to pick up the leftover coins and shared them amongst the group.

Everyone gathered for a photo before heading to music class. Jeanette Imbrogno, volunteer aid, assisted with the children during the leprechaun hunt and music class. The music class was held by Adam Hickey (keyboard) and Coleen Lundeen (singer).

Adam and Coleen started music class with "Here Is The Church". Natalie, Harvey, Ellie, Briella, Liam, and Jaxson sang loudly and danced - knowing every word. Laura, Jeanette, and Coleen sang and danced with the children. Once the song was over, they moved to "If You Are Happy And You Know It", "Jesus Loves The Little Ones Like Me", "H-A-P-P-Y". "Let My Little Light Shine", and "Give Me Oil In My Lamp".

"Give Me Oil In My Lamp" was done with skits created by Coleen. The first skit was Harvey who was a Champion

Surfer. Briella was there to support him for a smooth ride. The next skit was Elle who wore an apron and Natalie who wore a hat. Their skit was Chef and Server that included tacos. The third skit was Laura holding two posters/ signs. Hendrix usually holds the "Joy" sign but was not present. Laura held the "Heart" and "Joy" signs while singing and dancing carried on. The fourth skit was a Pro Truck Driver and Gas Tank. Elliot was not present so Jaxson held both props and everyone sang.

Music class continued with "I Am Thankful To Be An American" Then the the children practiced "Pledge Of Allegiance" and sang "Grand Old Flag". Music class ended with "Happy Birthday" to Natalie being Wednesday was her birthday.

The children gathered around Adam Hickey to hear him read "Hooray For St. Patrick's Day".

Jeanette Imbrogno was asked if there was anything she would like to add. Jeanette smiled and said, "Happy St. Patrick's Day!"
