East Forest gets nice pitching game from starter to pick up 15-2 win

- By Keith Reigel Staff Writer

The visiting East Forest Flies got a nice pitching game from Flick who only faced 17 batters in shortened 4 inning game, while striking out 8, giving up only 3 hits and walking 3 with one hit batter. When she was around the plate the team backed her up with good defense and she did the rest. It was a big change for our hitters to face a pitcher like this and make the adjustments as you bat.

It was a rough start as East Forest sent nine batters to the plate in the top of the first and were able to get three of them home. Only some nice pitches by starter Maddison Stahli prevented what could have been a much worse inning as she was able to get and infield fly rule and a big strike out to put out the fire. When they got runners on base the majority of the time they were able to bring them home with some big hits and a few mental mistakes on throws. Everyone in their lineup scored at least one run, while six of the batters came across the plate twice. So it was a total team effort tonight.

Coach Pat Tigani said, “It was a game that we saw a pretty good team tonight. They were a solid hitting team and when we made errors or gave up walks they were able to take advantage of it with heads up base running. The pitcher other than the third inning when she walked 2 and hit another batter Kane was able to get some clutch hitting from Sadie Walter and Jenny Crowley to get those two runs in. Makieya Mcguire had a nice single in the bottom half of the second but was left stranded.

Kane will finish their season on the road with three games scheduled next week (actually 4 because the Thursday game at Dubois Central Catholic is a double header). They travel to Port allegany Monday, May 9 then Johnsonburg Tuesday, May 10 before finishing the week off at Dubois.
