Highland - 2 claims 8-Ball League Championship

-

The Kane 8 Ball Pool League Championship came to a close last night at the West Side Grill. It looked dim for the Top Seed VFW - 1 as second seed Highland - 2 came out on fire and took all four games in the first round and led 32-19 after just one round. VFW closed the gap a little as they won the second round 3025, third round Highland had another big round collecting 30 out of a possible 32 balls to VFW'S 26 to take a sizable 12 ball lead going into the final round. Showing why they finished the 27 week league as the top seed VFW closed the night the way you want to as the top three shooters all won and won handily 24-11 to take a 1 ball lead into the last game of the night. Highland 2 was able to complete the slight upset winning the last game 8-6 and claiming the League Championship 106-105. Leading the way for Highland - 2 was Rich George - 30, Mike Clark - 28,

Fred Johnson - 25 and Randy Larson - 23 for a total team count 106. The VFW top shooter was Chris Haight - 29, Eddie Mcquillen - 25, Doug Vaneman - 25 and Dale Mclaughlin 25 for a team total 105. These two teams fought through the 27 week league most of the year and in the end VFW only beat Highland by a total ball count of 30553031 (24) balls all year. It was a good match to watch as one team was hot early and the other slowly closed the gap and it came down to what many may have thought to the last game of the year. Congratulations to Highland 2.
