Music 6 on 6 Fundraiser for Amphitheater in Mount Jewett
Mount Jewett Councilman and a member of the Mount Jewett Coalition (MJHHC), Jason Hughes, explained Music on 6 at 6 as a fundraising program being put on by the MJHHC with one hundred percent of proceeds raised from most shows going toward the community’s amphitheater.
Jason Hughes spearheads the project by bringing talents, such as Ladybug and The Walrus on Thursday night.
“The sounds of the Ladybug and The Walrus could be heard across Mount Jewett. It was the third in a series of six free concerts in the Music on 6 at 6 concert series, with the father-daughter duo, Kevin and Emilie Housler, the latest musical act to donate their time and talents,” Hughes said.
Hughes, who shares emcee duties with his wife and MJHHC President, Kelly Barr Hughes, said that it is an honor for these acts to share their talents with us and help bring this vision to life.
At each show, there is a donation bucket alongside a huge printout of the preliminary engineering design for the amphitheater. Hughes said that the borough council worked with concept designer, The EADS Group to apply for a grant for the project and is exploring other fundraising opportunities.
With three more upcoming shows, Hughes said, “We hope the community comes out to support these acts. There’s no charge at all, though, of course, we encourage donations. We also encourage everyone to support Kaffe Sol next door to Heritage Park as they’ve been graciously opening up to offer light concessions throughout each show.”
Music on 6 continues with MAD Music (Mike Doty) on Thursday, July 14 on August 11. The Mckean County Fair Queen candidates will showcase their talents along with a group of talented kids.
Then, on August 25, the free concert series wraps up with an open mic night. All shows begin at 6 p.m. at the Mount Jewett Heritage Park on the corner of Gallup Avenue and Highway 6 in Mount Jewett.
