Mckean County Commissioners Partnered with the Mckean County Community Foundation to Award ARPA Funds
Mckean County Commissioners Tom Kreiner, Cliff Lane, and Carol Duffy commented on granting dollars to assist in advancing organizations that are non-profit 501(c)(3) and faith-based organizations that provide services to the public. The funds allow the organizations to enhance their programs and complete projects that will make a difference in the lives of residents throughout the county.
The Mckean County Community Foundation said the Commissioners recognized how the pandemic affected the non-profit sector in the community and chose to award the ARPA dollars to encourage sustainable projects that will make a lasting impact on the communities.
Partnered with the Commissioners, the Foundation awarded $226,595 in grants to 40 organizations through Mckean County's portion of the funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) on December 12.
Lane thinks it is a great opportunity for the community to get together with the Foundation to be able to do good things with the money that is available.
Duffy said this was an opportunity for the commissioners to reach out and help with the funding that the commissioners were allocated to those who had really worked and supported others during the pandemic.
She explained that the commissioners partnered with the Foundation in order to utilize their expertise and their knowledge in administering grants.
"They already have a committee established so they were a tremendous help to the County throughout the process. I thank them and I thank everyone who has pulled together through this challenging time and to really help each other," Duffy said.
Kreiner stated that it is a wonderful opportunity to be able to share with organizations through the whole COVID process that has suffered along.
"It is great to give back to them."
