Drug task force seizes ev­i­dence of ‘long-term drug dis­tri­bu­tion’ plan

WOR­TON — The Kent County Nar­cotics Task Force on April 27 charged a Wor­ton man with pos­ses­sion of co­caine with in­tent to dis­trib­ute af­ter lo­cat­ing sus­pected pow­dered co­caine and pack­ag­ing ma­te­ri­als in his res­i­dence.

Sa­muel Ed­ward Hack­ett, 50, also was charged with two counts each of pos­ses­sion of a con­trolled dan­ger­ous sub­stance that is not mar­i­juana and pos­ses­sion of drug para­pher­na­lia.

He was re­leased April 30 af­ter post­ing $5,000 un­se­cured per­sonal bond, ac­cord­ing to on­line court records.

Task force of­fi­cers as­sisted by the Kent County Sher­iff’s Of­fice SWAT team ex­e­cuted a court-or­dered search and seizure war­rant at 5 a.m. April 27 at a home in the 11000-block of Wal­lace Woods Road. Hack­ett was there, ac­cord­ing to po­lice. Sus­pected pow­dered co­caine, pre­scrip­tion med­i­ca­tion, dig­i­tal scales, pack­ag­ing ma­te­ri­als and cash were seized. Also seized was “ev­i­dence of long-term dis­tri­bu­tion be­ing con­ducted from the res­i­dence,” ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease.
