ROCK HALL — From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, Rock Hall residents can help collect trash, which has accumulated within their local community and environment.

Mayor Brian Jones, who proposed the event at an April 12 town council meeting, said he received a few complaints about litter on the side of the road. He said that it was good for the town to tidy up before Memorial Day weekend, when Rock Hall will be flooded with vacationers.

“It’s a perfect opportunity for the community to come together,” Jones said.

Jones said that the community would start on North Main Street, then residents could pick a spot and get to work. He said that the group would work its way toward Ferry Park, where everyone will meet for pizza around 1 p.m.

The first 50 participants to register for the cleanup the day of the event will receive a T-shirt, Jones said.
