UM Shore Regional Health offers skin cancer screenings
CHESTERTOWN — To promote early detection of skin cancer, the Cancer Center at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health is working with various community partners to offer free skin cancer screenings throughout the region.
The dates include:
• From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the Kent County Health Department, 125 Lynchburg St., Chestertown. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Andrea Edwards at 410-778-7970.
• From 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31 at Easton Der- matology Associates, 403 Marvel Court, Easton. Preregistration is required for this location; to schedule an appointment, call the Cancer Center at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health at 410-820-6800.
• From 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 14 at Shore Dermatology, 100 Bramble St., Suite 1, Cambridge. Pre-registration is required for this location; to schedule an appointment, call the Cancer Center at UM Shore Regional Health at 410-8206800.
All screenings are open to the public. Underinsured and uninsured are encouraged to participate.
According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, skin cancer is the most common type of cancer, with more than 5.4 million cases of non-melanoma skin cancer treated annually in the United States. It is also the easi- est to cure, if diagnosed and treated in its early stages.
