Sus­pected heroin, para­pher­na­lia seized dur­ing March traf­fic stop

CHESTERTOWN — Sus­pected heroin and ev­i­dence of al­leged drug dis­tri­bu­tion seized dur­ing a traf­fic stop in the mid­dle of March led to the ar­rest of a Chestertown man and woman.

Ken­neth Ralph Fon­seca II, 34, and Brandi Alexan­dria Reed, 33, were charged with pos­ses­sion of a nar­cotic with in­tent to dis­trib­ute; con­spir­acy to pos­sess a nar­cotic with in- tent to dis­trib­ute; pos­ses­sion of a con­trolled dan­ger­ous sub­stance that is not mar­i­juana; con­spir­acy to pos­sess a con­trolled dan­ger­ous sub­stance that is not mar­i­juana; and pos­ses­sion of drug para­pher­na­lia.

The ar­rest war­rants were served April 2.

Ac­cord­ing to on­line court records, Fon­seca was re­leased af­ter post­ing a $20,000 corpo- rate bond and Reed was re­leased af­ter post­ing a $10,000 un­se­cured per­sonal bond.

The cases against both of them have been for­warded for pros­e­cu­tion in the Cir­cuit Court for Kent County.

The Kent County Nar­cotics Task Force, as­sisted by the Kent County Sher­iff’s Of­fice pa­trol and crim­i­nal in­ves­ti­ga­tion di­vi­sions and the Mary­land State Po­lice, ex­e­cuted a court-au­tho­rized search and seizure war­rant on Fon­seca, Reed and the ve­hi­cle they oc­cu­pied March 15 dur­ing a traf­fic stop in the Chestertown area.

Po­lice seized 25 clear cap­sules con­tain­ing sus­pected heroin with a to­tal weight of 12.3 grams, ac­cord­ing to a task force news re­lease.
