Woman raising four grandkids
Charlotte considers her four grandchildren — Mia, Kendra, Camila and Mason — to be one of life’s greatest gifts.
She was there when each one was born, and has been to nearly every school program and birthday party. She helped out when they came down with the flu, and she has been that extra pair of hands in their lives.
She has seen their ups and downs, and knows the joys and sorrows of each one.
But now, through no one’s fault, she is faced with having to raise them.
Their mother is gone, and her son could not handle them on his own, so he brought them to live with her in her small house. Charlotte’s husband died years ago.
She works a full-time job, so she is not home during the day. Ten-year-old Mia helps to look out for her little sisters and brother.
Mia has reached the age where she is interested more grown-up things; Kendra and Camila are close in age, 6 and 7, and tend to stick together, the way sisters do. Little Mason is 4, the only boy.
Charlotte is not as fit as she used to be, and she is exhausted when she comes home at the end of the day.
But she’s always happy to see their smiling faces and glad they are at her house and safe. She wants to try to give them everything they need.
With four more mouths to feed and the extra expenses, her paycheck is stretching thinner and thinner. Her son is between jobs and not able to help.
