Marguerite S. Grosh
KENNEDYVILLE — Marguerite Spillman Grosh, “Moggie,” 84, of Kennedyville died Dec. 3, 2018 in Kent Hospice Center, Chestertown.
Moggie was born on March 25, 1934 and was raised in the Pigtown area of Baltimore, where her mother owned and operated Wees Restaurant on Cleveland Street, which she later operated. She had worked as a supervisor for C&P Telephone for 25 years. She was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and University of Maryland basketball.
In 1992, she and her husband retired to Kennedyville, where she volunteered at the hospital’s gift shop. Mrs. Grosh loved birdwatching, gardening, flower arranging and sailing.
Moggie is survived by her husband of 28 years, Melvin E. Grosh; stepchildren Karen Thiem (Christopher) of Columbia, Melissa Maule (Wayne) of Millington and Jennifer Poteet (Kenneth) of Florida; seven step grandchildren, Dan Dierker, Laura Coleman, David Dierker, Zachary Thiem, Amanda Thiem, Brian Holsey and Nathan Holsey; and four step great-grandchildren, Grady, Hadley and Finn Dierker and Lainie Coleman. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Compass Regional Hospice, 160 Coursevall Drive, Centreville, MD 21617 or Humane Society of Kent County, P.O. Box 352, Chestertown, MD 21620.
