KENNEDYVILLE — Mar­guerite Spill­man Grosh, “Mog­gie,” 84, of Kennedyville died Dec. 3, 2018 in Kent Hospice Cen­ter, Chestertown.

Mog­gie was born on March 25, 1934 and was raised in the Pig­town area of Bal­ti­more, where her mother owned and oper­ated Wees Restau­rant on Cleve­land Street, which she later oper­ated. She had worked as a su­per­vi­sor for C&P Tele­phone for 25 years. She was an avid fan of the Bal­ti­more Ori­oles and Univer­sity of Mary­land bas­ket­ball.

In 1992, she and her hus­band re­tired to Kennedyville, where she vol­un­teered at the hos­pi­tal’s gift shop. Mrs. Grosh loved bird­watch­ing, gar­den­ing, flower ar­rang­ing and sail­ing.

Mog­gie is sur­vived by her hus­band of 28 years, Melvin E. Grosh; stepchil­dren Karen Thiem (Christo­pher) of Columbia, Melissa Maule (Wayne) of Milling­ton and Jen­nifer Po­teet (Ken­neth) of Flor­ida; seven step grand­chil­dren, Dan Dierker, Laura Cole­man, David Dierker, Zachary Thiem, Amanda Thiem, Brian Holsey and Nathan Holsey; and four step great-grand­chil­dren, Grady, Hadley and Finn Dierker and Lainie Cole­man. Ser­vices will be pri­vate. In lieu of flow­ers, memo­ri­als may be of­fered to Com­pass Re­gional Hospice, 160 Cour­se­vall Drive, Cen­tre­ville, MD 21617 or Hu­mane So­ci­ety of Kent County, P.O. Box 352, Chestertown, MD 21620.
