CHESTER­TOWN — Betty Cather­ine Myers of Chester­town died on Fri­day, Dec. 21, 2018 at her home. She was 87.

Born on Nov. 13, 1931 in Bal­ti­more, she was the daugh­ter of the late James Vin­ton and He­len El­iz­a­beth Meeks Ben­son. She grad­u­ated from Glen Burnie High School, Class of 1948. She started work­ing with BGE and later for Kirk’s Jew­elry in Bal­ti­more City for nearly two years un­til she met her hus­band Don­ald and mar­ried in 1950. They moved to Illi­nois, then to Anne Arun­del County and later to Kent County, where they resided in Chester­town for the past 28 years.

Mrs. Myers was very ac­tive at Trin­ity Lutheran Church. She loved to knit, en­joyed opera and clas­si­cal mu­sic, was an ex­cel­lent cook and al­ways

took care of her hus­band and her home.

In ad­di­tion to her hus­band, she is sur­vived by two daugh­ters, Christina Lo­bos and Cathy Szczepanik; two sis­ters, Au­drey Ernest and Mar­gared Ben­son; a brother, James Ben­son; three grand­chil­dren; sev­eral great­grand­chil­dren; and nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews. She was pre­de­ceased by a sis­ter, Pa­tri­cia Gross.

A vis­i­ta­tion will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Thurs­day, Dec. 27 at Fel­lows, Helfen­bein and New­nam Funeral Home, Chester­town. Ser­vices will be held at 11 a.m. Fri­day, Dec. 28 at Trin­ity Lutheran Church, Chester­town. In­ter­ment will be held at 2:45 p.m. in Glen Haven Memo­rial Park, Glen Burnie.
