CHESTERTOWN — Betty Catherine Myers of Chestertown died on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at her home. She was 87.
Born on Nov. 13, 1931 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late James Vinton and Helen Elizabeth Meeks Benson. She graduated from Glen Burnie High School, Class of 1948. She started working with BGE and later for Kirk’s Jewelry in Baltimore City for nearly two years until she met her husband Donald and married in 1950. They moved to Illinois, then to Anne Arundel County and later to Kent County, where they resided in Chestertown for the past 28 years.
Mrs. Myers was very active at Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved to knit, enjoyed opera and classical music, was an excellent cook and always
took care of her husband and her home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Christina Lobos and Cathy Szczepanik; two sisters, Audrey Ernest and Margared Benson; a brother, James Benson; three grandchildren; several greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Gross.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27 at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Chestertown. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Chestertown. Interment will be held at 2:45 p.m. in Glen Haven Memorial Park, Glen Burnie.
