Hori­zons’ an­nounces ‘stars’ in Dance with the Stars fundraiser

CHESTERTOWN — Walk the red car­pet dur­ing Hori­zons of Kent and Queen Anne’s “A Night in Hol­ly­wood” Dance with the Stars fundraiser.

The event will be­gin at 7 p.m. Satur­day, Feb. 2 at the Kent County Com­mu­nity Cen­ter. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a cock­tail buf­fet and cash bar. To re­serve a ta­ble, buy tick­ets or cast votes, visit hori­zonsken­tqueenannes.org.

Lo­cal “stars” and pros are paired to earn votes (i.e. dol­lars) that raise funds for the Hori­zons sum­mer en­rich­ment pro­gram in Kent and Queen Anne’s coun­ties, a news re­lease states.

“The pro­gram of­fers six weeks of op­por­tu­nity for un­der­priv­i­leged youth to re­duce ‘sum­mer slide,’ en­rich their aca­dem- ics, build and grow swim­ming skills and give the stu­dents an over­all fun learn­ing en­vi­ron­ment in the sum­mer,” the re­lease states.

One hun­dred per­cent of do­na­tions go di­rectly to help­ing lo­cal chil­dren.

As the dancers hone their dance rou­tines, the com­mu­nity can par­tic­i­pate by vot­ing or con­tribut­ing $1 per vote.

“A Night in Hol­ly­wood is sure to im­press, with the Kent County Com­mu­nity Cen­ter be­ing trans­formed into a glitzy Hol­ly­wood set­ting,” the re­lease states.
