Of­fers: A one-week res­i­den­tial camp for chil­dren ages 8 to 16 with di­a­betes; held at the Man­zano Moun­tain Re­treat, 90 min­utes out­side Al­bu­querque in Torreon. Campers learn to un­der­stand di­a­betes and the process of self-man­age­ment un­der skilled and con­tin­u­ous med­i­cal su­per­vi­sion. The goal is to make campers feel at ease and ac­cepted in a com­mu­nity in which hav­ing di­a­betes is the rule, not the ex­cep­tion. Screen­ing of rough cuts for fam­ily and friends takes place on the fi­nal day of camp. In In­ten­sive Film­mak­ing/Act­ing, older kids (ages 11 to 14) cre­ate a movie, do­ing ev­ery­thing from scriptwrit­ing to pre-pro­duc­tion, di­rect­ing, act­ing and film­ing.
