Offers: A one-week residential camp for children ages 8 to 16 with diabetes; held at the Manzano Mountain Retreat, 90 minutes outside Albuquerque in Torreon. Campers learn to understand diabetes and the process of self-management under skilled and continuous medical supervision. The goal is to make campers feel at ease and accepted in a community in which having diabetes is the rule, not the exception. Screening of rough cuts for family and friends takes place on the final day of camp. In Intensive Filmmaking/Acting, older kids (ages 11 to 14) create a movie, doing everything from scriptwriting to pre-production, directing, acting and filming.
