a 46-yard completion on third-and-22. Lee then bobbed his way through traffic on a 16-yard scoring run.

In the second half, the Wolves faced fourth-and-3 from their own 45 when Lee ran a quarterback option — there’s a jet sweep option for Lee, depending on how the defense reacts — 55 yards for a touchdown. For the game, Lee finished with 96 yards on 11 carries.

“There’s a great example of execution,” Banks said. “Jorden made the proper read, we blocked it.”

Junior running back Brycen Clay (14 carries, 92 yards) put the Wolves up 27-7 on a 1-yard scoring run with 2:19 left in the third quarter. Just over a minute later, Harvey sealed the victory with a 59-yard punt return touchdown.

“Boden Harvey was electric tonight,” Banks said. Banks, who took responsibility for the Wolves’ 3227 road loss against Bethel in Week 1, said there’s still work to be done when it comes to putting a game plan together and seeing players carry it through on the field. That’s the difference between beating a team like Rogers and competing with the SPSL’s top contenders.

“The good teams win football games because they execute, not because people falter,” said Banks, whose team plays Puyallup on Sept. 14 in its home opener.

When South Kitsap’s players exited the field, they seemed to be reading Banks’ message loud and clear. Celebrating wins is nice, but it doesn’t have to be once or twice a season as long as the Wolves continue to develop the necessary habits.

“It feels good,” Harvey said, “but I feel like it’s going to be the first of many.”
