Helen Lawson

-

KINGSTON - Our matriarch Helen went home to be with Jesus, March 24, 2024 surrounded by family. Born on March 4, 1920 she had just celebrated her 104th birthday. We are so fortunate to have had her in our lives for so many years.

Helen graduated from N. Kitsap Union High School in 1938. Where she met the love of her life, Harold Lawson. They married in 1939 and moved to Seattle. Harold worked at Boeing while Helen cared for her mother. They raised two daughters.

Although Boeing afforded Harold many travels, Helen had the opportunity to travel abroad as well. When they retired, they moved back to Kingston and built a home. She loved roses and belonged to the Kingston Garden Club. For several years she was a sponsor of World Vision Bangladesh. She cherished the letters from the children she was helping.

They were members of Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church since the early 80’s, and made many lasting friendships.

Helen had the gift of hospitality and always had a pot of tea and dessert ready for visitors. She the was kindest, most thoughtful person ever.

Helen is survived by two daughters: Kaaren (Isaias) Hernandez and Bettianne (John) Sjoberg.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harold (2003), Harold Loren Jr. (infant), her parents Sam and Esther Arness, and nine siblings.

She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jodi Olson, Todd DiAsio, Joe Davis, Karl and Amy Sjoberg. Nine great-grandchildren, 10 greatgreat grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.

We wish to thank the caregivers at Liberty Shores, memory care for their dedication and compassion in her last 1 1/2 years. Helen will be interned privately at Kingston cemetery.

There will be a Celebration of Life on April 28th at Village Green Community Center, 26159 Dulay Rd. N.E., Kingston from 1- 2:30pm. Online memorial at TuellMcKee.com
