KNOXVILLE - Daniel Barkley Lockman, Jr., 79 of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully on August

3, 2023. He was a kind, generous and loving son, brother, husband, uncle, friend and friend of Bill W.’s for over 30 years. Dan will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. & Mrs. Dan B. Lockman. Dan is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 41 years, Carson Naff Lockman, and his four-legged children, DJ, Buffy and Ringo Starr (rescues); brother, Gary Sanders Lockman (Terry) in Atlanta, GA; sister, Joan Lockman Wilson (Mike deceased) in Hoschton, GA; sister-in-law, Jane Naff Ingle in Maryville, TN; brother-in-law, Henry Hudson Naff, III (Tracy Horton) in Knoxville, TN and nieces and nephews, Jennifer Senator (Ryan) in Charlottes­ville, VA, Patrick Lockman (Rachel) in Decatur, GA, Katie Chapman (Clay) in Eufaula, OK, Ryan Wilson (Beth) in Flowery Branch, GA, Brett Wilson (Emmaline) in Atlanta, GA, Dr. Vince Ingle (Julie) in Maryville, TN, Nick Ingle (Jenea) in Seymour, TN, and Amanda Burns (Bill) in Maryville, TN Growing up in the Air Force, Dan moved many times. At one point, he went to 15 schools in 15 years. After graduating from Portsmouth High School, NH, Dan attended the University of South Carolina before joining the Army. He served in Vietnam working for AFVD (Armed Forces Vietnam Network). Dan continued to work in radio in Columbia, SC, before moving to Texas, then Atlanta, where he was way ahead of his time in computer technology, working for Apogee for over 20 years.

Atlanta was where Dan met Carson on a blind date, and the rest is history. When Dan and Carson moved to Watts Bar Lake, they enjoyed visits from family and friends, boating, fishing, playing games and eating. “The Duck” was home for the Lockmans for 20 years.

A graveside service will be at Greenwood Cemetery, 3500 Tazewell Pike, in Knoxville, on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 1:00p.m. Reverend Tim Best from Church Street United Methodist Church will be officiatin­g, and music will be provided by Dr. Geol Greenlee and Elana Douglas. Following the service, all are invited to a reception at Calhoun’s Turkey Creek, 625 Turkey Cove Ln, in Knoxville, from 2:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dan’s memory may be made to Rural Metro Fire Station #16, 1106 Lake Heritage Way, Knoxville, TN 37922, or SBRET (Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee), P.O.
