STRAWBERRY PLAINS - Ralph E. Hensley Jr., 82 of Strawberry Plains, born March 1, 1941, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024. Ralph was a very devoted husband and father and loved his family very much. He was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church. He loved coaching many different sports to children of all ages. He served in the US Army from 1962-1965. He was preceded in death by the love of his life his wife, Carolyn Arlene Runyon Hensley; parents, Ralph Sr. and Violet Hensley; grandparen­ts, Andy and Gladys Johnson; sister, Faye Breeden; brother, Charlie Hensley; in-laws, Clyde “Bud” and Dorothy Runyon; and beloved grandson, W. Isaac Hensley.

He is survived by his sons, R. Eddie Hensley (Beverly), R. Wesley Hensley (Sherry), Tommy Hensley (Sherry), Johnny Brown (Jennifer), and Timothy Brown; grandchild­ren, Jessica (Rob), Brittany Branch (Adam), TC Hensley (Mary), Samantha Cooper (Casey), Hunter Lawson (Justin), McKinley Brown, and Justin Arnold (Katie); great-grandchild­ren, Emma and Carson Branch, and Jackson and Stetson Arnold; sister-in-law, Dottie Bell; and numerous other extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone at UT Hospice Group for all the love and care they showed Ralph through this time. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM, Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Seviervill­e, with funeral service to follow at 7PM with Lee Murphy officiatin­g. Family and friends will leave at 10:30AM Thursday, January 25, 2024, in procession to Pollard Cemetery for 11AM graveside service and interment.
