KNOXVILLE - Judy Griffin Jones, age 75 of Knoxville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 8, 2024, after her battle with cancer while under Hospice care. She was born on February 3, 1948, in Chattanoog­a, TN, and was the 2nd of 9 children of Willis and Emily Griffin. She grew up in Fort Payne, Alabama, and the Chattanoog­a, TN, area where she graduated from Tyner High School. She worked early on as a nurses’ aide where she met her future husband, E. Martin Jones. They moved to Knoxville, TN, and were happily married for 36 years until he passed. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters. She was a resident of Knoxville for over 50 years and resided her last year in assisted living at Trinity Hills of Knoxville.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmothe­r, and Christian. She spent many hours reading and studying her Bible. She was active for many years at Trinity Chapel. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchild­ren. She delighted her family by baking cookies and trying new recipes for all to taste test. Other passions included collecting and shopping for antiques and creating beautiful floral arrangemen­ts which she displayed in her home. Her favorite TV show was “Andy Griffith” because she loved the simpler times. She was determined, strong, creative, kind, and loyal to God and her family. Proverbs 31:25 aptly describes her: “Strength and honor are her clothing.”

She is preceded in death by her husband E. Martin Jones; her parents, Rev. Willis H. Griffin and Emily Simmons Griffin; her brothers, Edward Michael (Mike) Griffin and James Willis (Jim) Griffin; and her sister Donna Griffin Davenport.

Survivors include her daughters Deanna Jones (Matthew) Rader and Angie Jones (Alberto) Martinez; her sisters Jeanne Griffin Chambers, Linda Griffin (Steve) Babb, Vicki Griffin, Pam Griffin (Daryl) Tuttle, and her brother Mark (Jian) Griffin; her grandchild­ren Jeremiah (Bridgette) Horn, Olivia Horn, Lucas Jones Martinez, Austin Rader, multiple nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat Chloe.

The family extend their heartfelt gratitude to Trinity Hills Assisted Living of Knoxville, UT Hospice, and her caregivers, Renee Kitts, Sharlene Donaldson, and her sister, Vicki Griffin, for their unwavering care and support during her final days.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 5901 Lyons View Pike with Pastor Tyler Lynde from Trinity Community Church officiatin­g. All are welcome to attend.
