Jean Schneider Gray

Jean Schneider Gray, age 99, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, March 21,

2024. Jean was born in Tazewell, Tennessee. Jean graduated from nursing school through John Gaston Hospital, Memphis, TN. She worked as a registered nurse at the University of Tennessee Hospital until her retirement. Jean also spent time working as a real estate broker with Croley Real Estate. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Bearden and a charter member at the West Hills Baptist Church. Jean enjoyed ballroom dancing as well as square dancing. She enjoyed traveling and spending the winters in Fort Myers, FL. Jean was a Vol fan and attended home UT football games well into her 80’s. Jean is preceded in death by her first husband, Louis “Luke” Schneider and her second husband, Frederick Gray; sisters, Lita Bee Hopper and Bethel Wright; brothers, Kenneth Hipshire and Voyd Hipshire. She leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her children, Keith Schneider, Linda (David) Honold and Kathy (Dr. John) Vannoy; grandchildren, Bryan Schneider, Matthew (Kathy) Honold, Whitney (Joe) Menninger, Kevin Honold, Nathan (Elizabeth) Honold, Madison (Cary) York, Lauren (Tyler) Johnson, Chandler (Alison) Vannoy and 14 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Central Baptist Church of Bearden or West Hills Baptist Church of Knoxville in Jean’s honor. A visitation for Jean will be held Monday, March 25, 2024 at 11am with a funeral service to follow at 12pm at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919, Jean will be laid to rest at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery at 1pm following services.
